Pair Purdey Back Action Locks
(Reference #2078)
A very fine pair of original Purdey back action locks, overall length 4 1/8". These locks were built in 1883 and have the lockmakers initials JM stamped on the inside also the gun number 11662. This number is also engraved on the lock pin. The locks have border engraving with rose and scroll on the plates and the makers name James Purdey and Sons. These locks are unusual insomuch as they have the safety in front of the hammers which engages when the locks are on the rebound position. Internally the mechanism retains its high polish finish and most of the colour hardening is retained on the inside and outside of the locks. They are in very fine condition.
